The magnificent Kavala
Kavala is a waterfront , amphitheatrically build city with paved, narrow streets, located in the north-east of Greece, which you will undoubtedly love at first sight. Kavala is 680 km away from Athens and 165 km from Thessaloniki. The city is almost located on the motorway. When you see the sign which informs you that you are approaching the city, you merely have to turn right and go downwards. At the intersection you have two options, either to turn right and face the beach, in which many people swim even if it is cold or go straight ahead to the shops of the new town and the harbor, where several vessels anchor. After the stroll along the paved passageways of the new town, it is worth visiting the old town; restaurants above the pedestrian area (I tasted the traditional dishes of the Araliki which have satisfied my expectations), cafés with a breathtaking view, souvenir shops and buildings that have been standing since the Ottoman Empire (The Imaret was built by Mehme...
