The magnificent Kavala



Kavala is a waterfront, amphitheatrically build city with paved, narrow streets, located in the north-east of Greece, which you will undoubtedly love at first sight. 

Kavala is 680 km away from Athens and 165 km from Thessaloniki. The city is almost located on the motorway. When you see the sign which informs you that you are approaching the city, you merely have to turn right and go downwards. At the intersection you have two options, either to turn right and face the beach, in which many people swim even if it is cold or go straight ahead to the shops of the new town and the harbor, where several vessels anchor. After the stroll along the paved passageways of the new town, it is worth visiting the old town; restaurants above the pedestrian area (I tasted the traditional dishes of the Araliki which have satisfied my expectations), cafés with a breathtaking view, souvenir shops and buildings that have been standing since the Ottoman Empire (The Imaret was built by Mehmet Ali and nowadays operates as a luxury hotel). 

The imposing fortress at the edge of the old town offers you the opportunity to enjoy as well as to photograph the stunning view of the town.  The house of Mehmet Ali-founder of the Egyptian dynasty-, which operates as a museum-café and the outdoor theatre, where cultural events take place, are situated in the square of the old town. You can also view the bronze equestrian statue of the sultan of Egypt, which is found in the same area. 

Last but not least, the medieval aqueduct or ‘Kamares’ has been used in the past years to assist the water transportation from the massif springs to the ‘old town’ and it is a sight not to be missed. When you cross ‘Kamares’ you will face the vast blue from the other side of the town as well as the abandoned ships, but the pub, which resembles an old radio made an impression on me. 

To conclude, all the places seem to be attractive due to the mood of the moment and the people that accompany us on the trip. Though, Kavala is indubitably an attractive place and already hosts several tourists.

Lovebird- ένα ιδιαίτερο κατοικίδιο…

Στην Ελλάδα έχουμε συνηθίσει, όταν ακούμε κατοικίδιο   να φέρνουμε στο νου μας   μια γάτα, έναν σκύλο, ή ένα καναρίνι. Ακόμη και οι απλοί παπαγάλοι δεν είναι συχνό φαινόμενο, πόσο μάλλον τα lovebirds .   Τα Lovebirds ανήκουν στο γένος αγαπόρνις, που σημαίνει το πουλί (όρνις) της αγάπης και κατάγονται από την Αφρική . Υπάρχουν 3 είδη που μπορούν να ζήσουν στην αιχμαλωσία: ο αγαπόρνις ροδινόλαιμος, ο αγαπόρνις μασκοφόρος και ο αγαπόρνις του Φίσερ. Όλα τα είδη έχουν μήκος 13-17 εκατοστά, ζυγίζουν 40-60 γραμμάρια και μπορούν να ζήσουν   10-15 χρόνια από την στιγμή που λαμβάνουν την κατάλληλη φροντίδα. Πέρα από σπόρους (ηλιόσπορους, κεχρί) τρέφονται με φρούτα και λαχανικά. Έχει παρατηρηθεί ότι το πουλί αυτό αναπτύσσει ισχυρούς δεσμούς με το ταίρι του, έτσι αν πεθάνει το ένα ακολουθεί και το άλλο, για αυτό και αποκαλούνται «αχώριστοι σύντροφοι» Η ιδιαιτερότητα αυτών των πτηνών έγκειται στο ότι δεν είναι ευδιάκριτο το φύλο τους με μία μόνο ματιά και μόνο μία εξέταση DNA μπορεί να το εξ

Junge Gründer aus Thessaloniki

Der Weg zur Gründung eines Start-up Unternehmens erfordert Mut, Selbstvertrauen, Ausdauer, Einfallsreichtum, Loyalität und Fleiß. Darüber hinaus spielen die Mitarbeiter, mit denen man sich zusammenschließt, und das notwendige Investitionskapital eine entscheidende Rolle.  In Griechenland ist es schwieriger diesen Schritt zu wagen und konkret in Thessaloniki, der zweitgrößten Stadt Griechenlands, ist die Jugendarbeitslosigkeit hoch (ungefähr 40%), und hat sich in Kombination mit der Corona-Krise verdoppelt. Trotz der Rezession und der Schwierigkeiten im Arbeitsalltag, suchen die Jugendlichen nach Alternativen, um ihren Träumen näher zu kommen. Es gibt zum Beispiel eine Reihe von motivierten  jungen Leuten aus Thessaloniki (ungefähr 5%), die sich, meist nach ihrem Postgraduiertenstudium, dazu entschließen, zusammen mit anderen Kollegen ein innovatives Unternehmen zu gründen, das seinen Sitz in Griechenland hat, aber gleichzeitig in ganz Europa tätig ist. Ρόδος: Mία καλοκαιρινή περιπέτεια

  Η Ρόδος ανήκει στα νησιά που σου δημιουργούν μία έντονη επιθυμία να τα επισκεφτείς από τον Μάιο μέχρι και τον Οκτώβριο, ενώ ενδείκνυται για λάτρεις της περιήγησης, της εξερεύνησης, αλλά και της διασκέδασης μέχρι πρωίας. Το νησί αποτελούσε και συνεχίζει να αποτελεί  έναν από τους κορυφαίους ταξιδιωτικούς προορισμούς, παρά τις πυρκαγιές που ξέσπασαν τον Ιούλιο στο νότιο τμήμα του νησιού.  Ήταν αρχές Ιουνίου περίπου, όταν άρχισα να διερευνώ αεροπορικά εισιτήρια, τόπο διαμονής και τα τουριστικά αξιοθέατα του νησιού. Μετά από αρκετή έρευνα και κριτικές βρήκα ένα προσιτό δωμάτιο στην Κρεμαστή, στα βόρεια του νησιού, σε απόσταση περίπου 10 χλμ. από το αεροδρόμιο και από την χώρα της Ρόδου.  Περίπου 2 μέρες πριν από την πτήση μου για Ρόδο ξέσπασε η πυρκαγιά σε διάφορα σημεία του νησιού, τα οποία-κατά τύχη- απείχαν από το κατάλυμα παραμονής μου.  Κάθε μέρα υπήρχε κλίμα ανησυχίας μήπως η φωτιά κατακλύσει όλο το νησί. Περιπλανώμενη στα μεσαιωνικά στενάκια της πόλης συζητούσα με τους  κατοίκους
